Eminent Domain / Condemnation
Grimshaw & Harring’s eminent domain clients range from private landowners to special districts, school districts, counties, municipalities and other governmental entities. Since 1970 we have tried or settled hundreds of condemnation, inverse condemnation and regulatory takings cases, together with most other matters involving property rights, such as urban renewal and land use litigation.

Our attorneys have tried or settled dozens of cases involving Denver International Airport (DIA), E-470 Public Highway Authority’s toll road around Denver, the Colorado Department of Transportation’s project to expand Interstate 25 (T-REX), and various FasTracks projects. We have also completed various urban renewal projects in which we represented private landowners. We have handled many of Colorado’s significant public improvement projects, dating back to the acquisition of rights of way for Colorado’s major interstate highways. We also have handled acquisitions for open space, recreation, drainage improvement projects, water pipelines, city halls, roadways, schools, and even a county jail.
Our eminent domain practice also includes appellate work - we have significant experience in both the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court. Our lawyers are also frequent lecturers at continuing legal education seminars as well as conferences and seminars relating to land use, planning, trial techniques and appraisal methodology.
