Tom Grimshaw has been on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Community College Systems Foundation since 1987 and has been involved and a supporter for even longer than that.  On Thursday, February 19, 2009,  there was a reception and celebration honoring his retirement as Chairman of the Board.  In addition to gifts including a framed letter from Governor Ritter honoring Tom’s long service to the State of Colorado, it was announced that a $25,000 endowment will be created for the Thomas T. Grimshaw Scholarship.  Tom will work with the foundation to establish the guidelines and parameters for the award of this scholarship.

This very nice honor demonstrates the amount of respect fellow board members and administrators of the Colorado Community Colleges have for Tom.  The directors of Grimshaw & Harring are pleased to be making a contribution to assist with the creation of the endowment.

Jamie N. Cotter practices in the areas of civil, commercial and real estate litigation, as well as antitrust and competition law.   Ms. Cotter was born in Vermont on January 4, 1982 and moved to Colorado in 2000 to attend Colorado College.  She graduated from The Sturm College of Law at The University of Denver in 2008 and joined the Grimshaw & Harring family in August 2008.

Recruiting at Grimshaw & Harring starts locally.   While we have a long standing Summer Clerk program, we do not hire a new class of attorneys each year.  Rather, we hire new associates only after assessing our long term needs.  We take pride in the fact that we have grown thoughtfully over the last fifteen years, hiring when necessary to achieve a long term growth plan, rather than simply to grow larger. Presently, our water lawyers are pursuing decrees for complicated augmentation plans for the Denver Technological Center and other Southeast Denver Metropolitan area special districts. They represent the Douglas County Water Resource Authority in implementing a conjunctive use project that enjoys unprecedented West Slope/East Slope/Denver Water Board/State Engineer cooperation, to augment the water supplies of water districts and metropolitan districts in Douglas County. They also represent the Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority, which presently provides water and wastewater services to a significant part of the population of Arapahoe County.

Our water lawyers have taught water law and they speak on water law. For years, Wayne Schroeder has annually updated a summary of Colorado water law that he previously authored in Chapter 76, Krendl, 2A Colorado Methods of Practice (4th ed. West, 1998 & Supp. 2002), and a similar summary of Colorado water law that appears in Clark, Waters and Water Rights, Colorado Water Law (D. Beck ed. 1991).
