Ms. Mayers practices in the areas of real estate (with an emphasis on community associations), insurance coverage disputes, employment law, civil and commercial litigation and collections.  In her practice, she acts as general counsel to a large number of condominium, townhome, single family, resort and mixed-use developments, and she provides counsel to special districts that have been assigned design review and covenant enforcement powers.  As part of her litigation practice, Lisa represents insurance policyholders in disputes with their insurance carriers and personal injury plaintiffs.  She litigates cases before state and federal courts in Colorado, as well as the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Lisa K. Mayers is a Colorado native, and was admitted to the Colorado bar in 1993, and the United States District Court, District of Colorado in 1994.

Physicians in Colorado may be liable for emotional distress damages if they fall below the legal standard of care in failing to aggressively pursue and definitively diagnose symptoms of cancer or other life-threatening diseases in a timely and responsible manner. So long as an increased risk of harm develops from the unchecked growth of cancer [even though the risk is unlikely to materialize], medical malpractice plaintiffs in Colorado have a cause of action for emotional distress resulting from a delayed diagnosis. This article examines the recent opinion of the Colorado Supreme Court in Boryla v. Pash and its likely impact on physicians and patients in Colorado.1 The authors represented the plaintiff both at trial and through both levels of appeal.

Rick Kron, AICP, joined Grimshaw & Harring in 1987.  His practice concentrates almost exclusively on special districts, business improvement districts, intergovernmental authorities and Colorado election law. Mr. Kron holds a Bachelor of Urban Planning and a B.A. LAS (Political Science) from the University of Illinois-Urbana, an M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Before and during law school, he worked for several years in community energy research at Argonne National Laboratory in Argonne, Illinois.

William J. Brady is a trial lawyer with more than thirty years experience in litigating civil matters.  Insurance coverage, personal injury, environmental and hazardous waste disposal cases have been successfully resolved on behalf of domestic and international corporations, cities, mining companies, aircraft manufacturers, churches and religious orders, and other business and individual clients. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants, Mr. Brady’s practice focuses upon releases of petroleum and petroleum based products, toxic chemicals, chlorinated solvents, heavy metals, radioactive substances and other contaminants in the environmental and hazardous waste arenas.  He has appeared in courts throughout the United States and in the Royal Courts of Justice in England, litigating against London Market insurance companies, Lloyd’s of London syndicates, and French, German and other foreign excess and reinsurers underwriting coverage in the London Market.  In addition to his environmental, insurance and municipal clientele, Mr. Brady occasionally represents victims of cancer misdiagnosis, personal injury, and toxic torts in serious injury/wrongful death cases. 

Intersol 2008

In March 2008 Mr. Brady delivered a white paper and power point presentation on aspects of the European Union Environmental Directive and “Assurances Environnementaux” at Intersol 2008 in Paris, France. Le Comité Scientifique d’Intersol selected him to address the conference attendees, all of whom were from EU Member States. Held annually in Paris, Intersol is a prestigious international congress focusing on environmental issues such as the remediation of contaminated soils and groundwater, the transfer of associated risk and the conveyance of “brownfields” sites within the EU. Experience

Mr. Brady has secured several multi-million dollar insurance settlements for international mining companies and municipalities nationwide.  Among his international clientele are mining, construction and engineering firms such as Cyprus Amax Minerals, Phelps Dodge, Thompson Creek Metals, Washington Group International, Australian high tech companies (MasterSoft International) and German chemical manufacturers (Degussa Corporation).   He has also testified in Congress on Superfund issues, and has participated in conferences sponsored by the White House, the EPA and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. He has been a frequent guest on “Law Cast,” a nationally broadcast radio program dealing with insurance, tort and trial issues, and has served as a commentator for KUSA-TV “9 News” in Denver. Additionally, Mr. Brady currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver College of Law, as well as teaching in DU’s University College, Graduate Environmental Policy and Management Program.

Mr. Brady and firm attorneys have also been active at several “extreme exposure” Superfund sites, including the Rocky Flats Former Nuclear Weapons Manufacturing Complex (Golden/Boulder), the Lowry Landfill (Denver), the Heartland of America (Omaha), the Stead Solvent Site (Reno), F.E. The Colorado Supreme Court issued this landmark decision addressing insurance coverage for the cities of Littleton and Englewood at the Lowry Landfill. Antitrust and Competition Litigation.  Mr Seelman represents clients in federal and state antitrust litigation matters involving monopolization, price-fixing, bid-rigging, market divisions, market foreclosure, resale price maintenance, tying, and unfair trade practices. He also counsels corporate clients on the fundamentals of federal and state antitrust laws, implements customized antitrust audit and compliance programs, conducts internal audit and compliance investigations, structures distribution and marketing programs, and analyzes the competitive framework of business arrangements with suppliers, wholesalers, retailers, brokers and customers.

~~Defended a Colorado agricultural grower in a federal employment lawsuit brought by the Colorado Legal Services on behalf of agricultural workers alleging numerous violations of state and federal employment laws.

~~Defended a Fortune 500 oil refinery and marketing company in a federal national class action lawsuit alleging violations of the federal antitrust laws (Section 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act, Section 3 of the Clayton Act), multi-state antitrust and consumer protection laws (Colorado, Texas, California, Oklahoma, and Louisiana), and state common law claims related to the drug testing services in the oil industry.

~~Defended a Michigan bank holding company (and its wholly owned subsidiaries) in a state trade mark and unfair competition lawsuit.  (Co-defended with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office).

~~Defended former Broadband executive against third-party discovery matters arising out of a federal antitrust lawsuit alleging monopolization and conspiracy in the cable industry.

~~Defended a national mortgage company in a federal lawsuit alleging violations of the Truth and Lending Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, and common law fraud claims.

~~Represented companies in over thirty antitrust and unfair competition lawsuits in federal and state courts throughout the United States involving allegations of monopolization, price-fixing, exclusionary practices, bid rigging, market and customer allocations in a variety of industries.

~~Advised a Canadian company of potential federal antitrust defenses against allegations of federal patent/trademark violations asserted by a U.S. company.

~~Advised a Canadian company of potential federal and state antitrust claims/defenses applicable to resale price maintenance agreements in the U.S. market.

~~Defended a limited partner in two hotels located in Aspen in state breach of contract lawsuit.

~~Defended a company and it president in a federal securities fraud lawsuit brought by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.

~~Represented individual against a Kansas oil and gas company in a state lawsuit alleging the unlawful sales of unregistered securities under the Colorado Securities Act.  (Worked jointly with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office).

Ms. Harring’s practice includes both real estate and real estate finance, emphasizing the negotiation and closing of acquisitions, exchanges and sales of commercial properties and residential subdivisions, construction, interim and permanent loans, and workouts involving non-performing loans and assets. She has had extensive experience with foreclosures and receiverships, mechanics’ lien claims, commercial leasing, construction and asset management contracts, and related matters. She has advised lender, developer and investor clients on the purchase, sale and financing of properties ranging from vacant land to commercial, industrial and residential projects, including hotels, motels, athletic clubs, restaurants and bars, office buildings, apartment projects, mini-warehouses, industrial warehouses and shopping centers.
