Grimshaw & Harring has created the East Corridor Group, a carefully selected group of our attorneys who are uniquely qualified to quickly and thoroughly understand the myriad of issues that will face property owners who are subject to RTD’s condemnation efforts for the East Corridor project.  Our lawyers have decades of experience in the entire condemnation process, from a property owner’s initial receipt of notice, through immediate possession hearings, the appraisal process, trials and appeals. 

Grimshaw & Harring has represented hundreds of property owners whose property has been subjected to eminent domain by authorities such as RTD and the Colorado Department of Transportation.  On the other side, we have also represented dozens of condemning authorities, giving us unique insight and perspective from both sides of the proceeding.  We have seasoned real estate and zoning lawyers ready to work directly with our condemnation lawyers to handle issues related real estate and lease transactions, as well as any zoning related issues.  Because many properties are located within one or more special taxing districts, we finally include special district professionals.  Our firm currently represents over 100 special districts throughout the state, and is therefore uniquely qualified to advise and assist should issues arise that implicate or involve the condemned property’s inclusion within the boundaries of one or more special districts.

Contact Information

Jeff Bergstrom’s practice focuses primarily on business, real estate and related tax law.  Using his legal, business and tax expertise, Mr. Bergstrom assists his clients with a wide variety of legal needs, including structuring and forming all types of business entities; business succession through acquisition, mergers, reorganization, family planning and/or asset and equity sales; financing transactions; negotiating and drafting contracts; general business counseling; documenting the financing and structuring of real estate ventures and a variety of tax matters.

Additionally, Mr. Bergstrom provides the firm’s clients with timely and relevant tax information regarding the ever-changing tax rules. As a “transactional tax” attorney, he assists in the structuring of economical and practical business solutions for corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and other types of businesses in order to minimize the tax consequences of specific transactions. He also represents clients before the IRS, the Tax Court and various state and local tax agencies.

Mr. Bergstrom represents a broad spectrum of clients including several multi-branch banks and private lenders, advertising and marketing companies, construction contractors, insurance companies, churches, hotel owners and operators, retail stores, restaurants, multi-family, commercial and residential property owners, homeowners’ associations and charitable organizations.

Mr. Bergstrom holds a JD and an MBA from the University of Akron School of Law and the College of Business Administration, and also holds an LL.M in Taxation from the University of Denver’s Graduate Tax Program.  His wife is a director of nursing services at an area hospital, and they are the proud parents of two daughters.  Jeff is an avid golfer and skier.

Contact Information

Thomas N. George was born and raised in Rifle, Colorado.  He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder as a Boettcher Scholar and a member of the Presidents Leadership Class, and received a B.A. in Economics in 2005. In May of 2009, Mr. George graduated from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona, where he was a member of the Student Bar Association and an Editor of the Arizona Journal of International & Comparative Law.  Mr. George joined Grimshaw & Harring as an Associate in August of 2009, and in November, 2010, was additionally sworn in as a practicing member of the Wyoming Bar Association.
